You recognise a French word when you see the answer, then forget it when you need it. Solveig gives you practice recalling the meaning yourself, with reviews guided by your answers.

## How French practice works

In ordinary practice, Solveig introduces useful words with their meanings and examples before asking you to recall them. French pronunciation is available alongside the written word. When a meaning slips away, you see the answer and practise it again. Words you struggle with get more attention; familiar words can wait longer.

Solveig uses spaced repetition to plan reviews from your practice history. You still need to practise regularly; a progress bar is a record of your learning, not a promise of fluency.

## Build a habit you can keep

After a French lesson, a podcast or some reading, it is easy to spend the next session only looking for new words. Make room to retrieve older words too. With Solveig, you do not need to build a deck or decide every review date: the next practice session mixes new vocabulary with words that are ready to return.

## Who is it for?

Solveig is for English-speaking learners building or refreshing French vocabulary. It complements lessons, listening and conversation. Flashcards practise individual words; they do not replace a complete grammar course or speaking with other people.

## Questions before you start

### Can I start as a beginner?

Yes. You choose French when you set up your account and try some introductory words. A short calibration helps Solveig find a starting point for your vocabulary practice.

### Do I need to make my own French deck?

No. The course includes a prepared collection of common French vocabulary, with English meanings. You can explore words on the Progress page and add an available word to practice.

### Can I try Solveig for free?

Yes. Start with free practice, pronunciation and progress tracking. Solveig Plus adds unlimited practice and an AI tutor for questions about words. You can see the current subscription price on the homepage before upgrading.

### How can I see what I have learned?

The Progress page shows your vocabulary and learning progress for each word. The practice session recap highlights words you have worked on and words that still need attention.
